Decent swells, great weather and a calamari festival brought out big crowds to Narragansett Pier on Saturday, including dozens of surfers at the Town Beach. Closeouts and crowded waters led to a lot of short rides, but smiles were abundant in the bay as Rhode Islanders soaked up one of the few remaining days of great weather before preparing for the winter surf season.
